Campus’ Kyle Butcher – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

Football is a physical sport. You are going to hit, and you are going to get hit through the course of the game. For some players though, that physicality is something they seek and try to find. Campus High School junior Kyle Butcher is one of those guys.

“I love the contact, intensity, and pressure to move someone to get the ball in the endzone,” Butcher says. “I also like to make it known when I pancake someone.”

While Butcher likes stacking up pancakes on the football field before the game, he likes to keep his pre-game meal simple.

“Just a sandwich and some Cheetos,” Butcher says.

Being the starting center comes with a lot of responsibilities and those are responsibilities that Butcher does not take lightly.

“I have to make a lot of calls during the game,” he says. “I have to make sure everyone is set, and we know what formation we are in.”

But Butcher’s responsibilities to the team go beyond just Friday nights.

“I try to keep people accountable,” he says. “I make sure they are at practice and are doing what they need to be doing.”

Butcher’s goal for this season is simply get better as an individual player and as a team.

“I just want to do the best I can do,” he says. “I want to grow as a team, get the job done, and win some games.”
