After making it to the state tournament last season, Campus girls golf, under head coach
Josh Curtiss, is poised for another solid season and a possible trip back to the big stage.
“Our team is coming off our first ever trip to state as a team. Four golfers return from the
state team last year (Kiley Maier, Sara Vulgamore, Alicia Jaramillo, and Ava Baker). We also return a lot of experience from the JV level and are looking for a couple kids to step into a varsity spot. This all for a program that is only entering its fifth year,” said coach Curtiss. Kiley Maier (Jr.) was named to the 2 nd Team All-AVCTL Division I last season and returns as one of the top players for Campus.
“Kiley is a two-year All-AVCTL performer. She has been our best golfer since her freshman year. She continues to put in a tremendous amount of time to improve her golf game and it is starting to show up with her results from tournaments. As good of a golfer as she is, she is a better student. She earns outstanding grades and represents our school and community well. I couldn’t ask for a better leader for our golf program,” said coach Curtiss.
Another consistent golfer is Alicia Jaramillo (Sr.) who enters her final season competing for Campus.
“Alicia will become a four-year letter winner for her golf career. She got thrown into the fire her freshman year and didn’t let it scare her away. She is always there trying to improve her game, even during the offseason. She has been a staple for our program,” said coach Curtiss.
Other team members to watch include Sara Vulgamore (Sr.), and Ava Baker (Jr.) who both return as members of the state tournament team. Also look for Christina Rau (Sr.), Gracee Thompson (Sr.), Londyn Ysidro (Jr.), Lloya Taylor (Jr.), Lauren Potter (Sr.-Clearwater), Kaelyn Potter (So.-Clearwater), and Kaylee Stoker (Jr.-Clearwater).
