Senior Shoutout with Sadie Hubbard – Presented by USD 261 Haysville

By Ember McElrath

Starting basketball while in junior high, Sadie Hubbard, discovered something that made a deep connection with her competitive side.

“Basketball means a lot to me,” said Sadie. “It helped build me as a person both mentally and physically. Basketball gave me the opportunity to make friendships and compete at an intense and high level.”

Sadie started in the seventh grade and quickly fell in love with the sport.

“I wanted to start playing because I honestly felt like something was missing and when I started playing, I never wanted to stop,” Sadie said.

Now a senior at Campus High School, Sadie keeps herself busy outside of basketball with KAY Club and YEK.

Looking back over her basketball career, Hubbard said she has many fond memories to smile at.

“Going to Emporia basketball camp over the summer will always be my favorite because all we did when we were at the hotel was play multiple rounds of uno,” Sadie said.

For Sadie playing basketball is more than just a sport, it is a place where she has made some great bonds.

“My favorite part of basketball is the team setting,” said Sadie. “I love the chemistry and the bonding.”

Sadie draws her inspiration and drive from two of the closest women in her life.

“Both my sister and mother are people that inspire me,” Sadie said. “They both are so hard working and independent women who never quit even when things get tough. But they are never afraid to ask for help.”

After high school Sadie plans to attend college and major in business.
