Campus High School senior Tya Tindall has been playing sports her entire life.
“My family has influenced me to play sports and ever since then I have fell in love with sports like nature,” Tya said.
For Tya, athletics is more than just games.
“Sports to me is a way to bring people together and play the sport they love,” said Tya.
For this senior, keeping up with her activities can be tricky, but even with the extreme time commitment she faces on a daily basis, she loves every second of it.
“Basketball for me is a very time-consuming sport,” said Tya. Practice every day, games at least twice a week, and just getting in the gym on my own. Even though it can take up most of my time I would not trade it for the world because I am going to miss it when it is gone.”
Like most athletes Tya’s favorite part about basketball are the games.
“Games bring you closer to your teammates and they are an opportunity to show to others what you are capable of.”
Having a role model to try and emulate is important for any young person and athlete.
“I would have to say I look up to our assistant coach for varsity, Coach Peschel,” Tya said. “Not sure if she knows this but I have looked up to her since I was a freshman. She knows a lot about the game and man she is still probably one of the best women’s basketball players around. She is what I aspire to be when I am older.”
After high school Tya plans to attend college and earn a physical education degree with hopes of also working as a coach one day.
