Campus High School’s Jacob Bush appears to be on a mission this season. The junior is returning after posting a great record last year with a very respectable run in post-season play.
“Bush is a junior this year,” said coach Dennis Matzen. “He didn’t get to play his freshman year due to season being cancelled due to COVID-19. He was a state qualifier last year finishing second in regionals and ended the year with a 27-15 record.”
We made it our mission to learn more about this junior and what we can expect from the Campus boys tennis team this season.
VYPE: Jacob, when did you start playing tennis?
Bush: I’ve been playing tennis since I was in the fifth grade, at 11 years old.
VYPE: What does your team and teammates mean to you?
Bush: They mean the world to me. I love playing with them every day and they all support me.
VYPE: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at Campus High School?
Bush: Mainly the support I get from teachers and coaches every day.
VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Bush: I love playing tennis, hanging out with friends, and being in the outdoors.
Coach Matzen pointed out that the team did lose four seniors off the varsity team, but the JV team performed very well last season. Bush and Ryan Nguyen are the top two singles players for Campus.
Also look for senior Dallas Parker to make an impact this year.
