Cox, Cortez named February Athletes of the Month
A pair of stellar Cowley College student-athletes, Tiger baseball player Chance Cox and Lady Tiger track and field standout Arantxa Cortez, were recently named the school’s February Athletes of the Month.
Cox, who went 7-0 as a freshman, has been just as dominant to start his sophomore campaign as he has allowed only five hits and one run in 15 innings pitched. Cox is 2-0 on the season with 14 strikeouts and just three walks for the nationally-ranked Tigers. The business administration major has a grade point average of 3.40 and has signed with the University of Houston.
Cortez, who was the indoor national champion in the pole vault as a freshman, nearly duplicated the feat before finishing as the national runner-up at the 2023 national indoor. Her performance helped the Lady Tiger track and field team place 11th nationally. The graphic design major has a GPA of 3.39.
