Q&A with Campus’ Isabella Lindsay – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

Campus athlete Isabella Lindsay interviewed with VYPE to tell us about who she is.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

My goals for this season are to break my current PR which I set my sophomore year. I also really want to just enjoy this season because it is my senior year. Me and one of my teammates created a calendar for the month of September full of themes for practices as well as team hangouts for every week and I am so excited to get closer to my teammates and make practices special.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

The most fun I’ve had this year was going to a convention called Higgy-Con where I was a speaker and spoke about my experience living with scoliosis. It was so fun to meet so many other kids and teens with scoliosis and is one of my all time favorite memories and something I will always be thankful for.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?

My all time favorite teacher is Mr. Munk who is also the athletic trainer at Campus. I had him for 3 years straight in high school for sports med. I really enjoyed his way of teaching, I feel like I learned so much in his classes and really challenged myself.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite athletic memory is my Sophomore year of Cross Country which was my first season. I was able to PR every race which made running more enjoyable. I had little expectations of myself because it was my first season and I didn’t know what to expect which made me able to just relax and focus on running and nothing else.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

My teammate Grace has left the biggest impression on me because she is able to relate to me not only about cross country but also about life. I am able to talk to her about anything and I know she is there to push me but also support and encourage me. I love hanging out with her both at practice/meets and outside of school and cross country.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My favorite part about being part of the cross country team is the ability we have to bond with each other. It is a very different team experience than any other sport I’ve been part of because we have more team bonding opportunities such as weekly team dinners and summer trips as well and we are able to be there for each other every single race and practice.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?

If I could pick anywhere to go on vacation I would pick somewhere outside of the US, I’m not sure exactly where but I’ve never been out of the country and I think it would be super cool to go somewhere else. I would bring my mom, dad, my 2 older brothers, and my grandma and grandpa since I love family vacations!

VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?

If I was given $500 I would go on a shopping spree and buy some clothes since I love clothes and buy my favorite people gifts since I also love giving gifts.

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?

I have my own nonprofit where I send care packages to Wesley Children’s Hospital for patients having Spinal Fusion Surgery. I had spinal fusion when I was 13 so I know how hard it is and I wanted to give to kids going through the same thing. I also am a chapter leader for a nationwide support group for kids and teens with scoliosis called Curvy Girls.

VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?

Currently, at school, I am involved in Student Council, Circle of Friends, and FCCLA. I love being involved with school activities because it provides new opportunities for me to meet different people and have more experiences in high school.
