Campus’ Albert Caballero – Athlete Spotlight Presented By USD261 Haysville

By Hayden Swope

Campus’ Albert Caballero loves how he has so many sports options and opportunities to choose from at Campus. While he gave up cross country a while ago, he still has the motivation to play basketball and run track and field.

“Getting to be recognized keeps me going and motivated for the year,” Caballero said

While not playing a fall sport at the moment, Caballero stays busy staying in shape for his other obligations, track and basketball. Having the endurance to play a physical sport is what he worked on over the offseason.

“I prepared my body to handle being handled, and prepped it for what it may have to go through,” Caballero said. “Also, to be able to run fast even when tired.”

For the upcoming track and field season, Caballero is ready to take on his top two races, and hopes to reach his time goals.

“Some goals for this track season is for a first place medal in the 400 meter and 800 meter  races,” Caballero said. “Goal time is 50 seconds for the 400, and two minutes for the 800.

Caballero is still undecided as to where his future will take him, but he is keeping his options open for schools and sports.

“If I get a scholarship somewhere, that will be my first option,” Caballero said. “If not I’ll go to a junior college school for track.”
