From the very first day senior Laney Welch saw the Campus business program in action, she knew she wanted to get involved.
“I knew I wanted to be a part of the business program when I saw the members of Youth Entrepreneurs of Kansas (YEK) lead market day,” Welch said. “Seeing them have fun while also running market day made it look exciting and full of opportunity.”
From the moment her application to the business program was approved, Welch has been moving full speed ahead.
“Since then, I have been actively involved in the business program and have continued pursuing my passion throughout my senior year,” Welch said.
Welch has had several business-related internships within Campus High School, and she hopes those experiences will help her once she enters the real world.
“The business program here at Campus has opened up countless opportunities and given me so much knowledge,” Welch said. “From understanding how student loans work to planning my future, which will be beneficial for me after high school.”
If another Campus student is interested in getting into business, Welch said they shouldn’t let such a great opportunity pass them by.
“This is the best thing you can do for yourself while in high school even if you’re not sure what you want to do after high school,” Welch said. “Overall, I am incredibly grateful for the people I have met at Campus, especially Zac Kliewer. His mentorship and leadership have really inspired me to become more involved, and I truly believe everyone needs a role model like him.”
